I've been sent the proofs for "El Remedio". For those of you who are experienced, you know what this means. For those of you who have never been sent proofs, this means I get to read the story again in the lay out it will be presented in when published.

Cool, right? Fun, right?

Yeah. It is cool, it is fun. But it also means I get to read this horrendously broken story with all its problems and flaws and let the editor know if everything is okay or not.

Bleh.

I thought I'd never have to read it again.

So now I get to wince at all my mistakes and the word choices and how I ended up editing it in all the wrong ways and should have just left it as it was, or trunked it, or...

And see, this is the thing. I think I could have written the most amazingly cool story on the face of the planet and still feel this way. Because it's mine, and I know its faults.

But it's a decent story. Not great or wonderful, but it's okay. And someone paid me money for it. So I'm going to suck it up, read my story, and let the editor know if there's any problems with it.

I hope I'll be sucking it up a lot in the future.
