almost like my birthday

Good things so far today. I am not thinking -- today I am doing.

The Spots asked if they could come by to hang out tonight, so my night should be enjoyable. We'll watch a film, perhaps. It should be good.

Later in the morning, Akanthos called and we chatted for a good long time. He made me laugh, a lot. In fact, I'm still laughing over this particular story he told me about catching his wife watching a particular movie and his reaction to it. Ah, bless him.

And Avadore is being hilarious. He's been telling me about his appetite today, and everytime he does he sticks out his tiny little stomach. (I have really tall, thin children.) Rice also spoke with his teacher this morning and it seems Avadore is doing just fine in school. (Whew!) It's about time. She noted his drawing skillz. Woo!

For lunch we ate toast topped with applesauce, cinnamon, and grated sharp cheddar put under the over broiler. Ah, it was lovely.

We are having fun today. There is housework going on, because it's always there, but Avadore has done the dishes, so I can't complain.

Netter has encouraged me (well, all of us at The Story Board) to google ourselves. I've had other people google me, and then tell me about it (and I'm grateful for it, too, but that's a long story), but I don't tend to do it for myself. So I just googled myself.

I am all over the bloody place! Interestingly enough, some of the people who would seemingly be me aren't. For example, there's a Maggie Croft from a town in Idaho where I used to live who is mentioned in several places. Could be me, but it's not. Weird. I was also evidently in a comic. (Score!) I also found a place where one of my stories was reviewed, but I'm pretty sure it's not a great review, so I didn't read it. I also found that Locus has my first published short story listed next to Ray Bradbury's (!) in a publication of all the short fiction published in 2004.

Now that's a present.

So, yes. It will be a good day. Too many people have tried to help me have a good day for me to have a bad one. I am determined to have fun and not think. I will play with the kids (who are just absolutely hilarious and so loving), and listen to fun music, and dance, and sing, and do some work, and get some writing in, and hang out with the Spots.

I have so many fine friends, and I am grateful for you all.
