2007-04-02 3:57 PM sitting around the house and waiting for In House to start, so I thought I'd make a quick blog entry.
First of all, I officially declare this week Jarvis Cocker week. I'll be linking to videos. His record comes out in the US tomorrow, so there will be much excitement. Recently Rice and I were visiting with the woman we're buying the house from. (She's also Rice's cousin, so...) The conversation turned to some of the sociocultural aspects of living in this part of the world. It sounds as if, though she has met some nice people and has friends, she has wanted to make some "bosom friends" (anyone else thinking of Anne of Green Gables?), but, like me, people become quite cautious and a wall comes up before any sort of meaningful relationship can be developed. This is horribly sad. She is one of the finest women I know in so many, many ways. There are a lot of people missing out. This also doesn't bode well for me -- she's a lot more socially acceptable in this part of the world than I am. (She, for example, wouldn't be plugging Jarvis Cocker on her blog, and he's probably not horribly acceptably among a lot of people in the area.) But being with Rice regularly will make a big difference. It's funny how much we thrive when around those who mean so much to us. Now for In House. More later. More Jarvis. Wee! Jeremy just said he'll be playing lots of Mr. Cocker today. Should be a good show. What a fine day. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
