2007-04-20 12:15 PM the good things It's been a long, sad couple of days. Wednesday's news hit me pretty hard, and then I came down with some insane virus immediately after that completely laid me out (with a few short respites for eating and brief laptopping) for the rest of the day, and the night, and yesterday, and the night, but I'm better today, which is something to be grateful for.
This is one of those weeks when I'm grateful I don't have a television connection to the outside world. So we're looking for things to be happy about. I'm happy for hot apple cider. I've been drinking a lot of it over the past couple days. I'm happy for NyQuil, and dark chocolate, and good husbands who bring dark chocolate and find people to take care of one's children, and for the said people who also make snowmen with one's children while one is asleep in bed, and for good friends (which, of course, includes all of you) and family and for life. And for Neil Gaiman who provides some good reading over at his journal, which is something I needed today, particularly since all but one of my comfort books are packed away. This comfort book would be A House Like a Lotus by Madeleine L'Engle. What are some of your comfort books? What else do you turn to for comfort? This has been all over the place, but just in case interested parties don't read all over the place, but read here, a scholarship has been set up in Jamie Bishop's memory: The Jamie Bishop Scholarship (for German Majors) Virginia Tech Foundation University Development 902 Prices Fork Road Blacksburg, VA 24061 Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
