2008-01-31 9:05 AM the very end It's the last day in January. I'm not where I planned to be on this day; even the plans I made at the beginning of the week aren't following through. But that is why we strive to be flexible and not too hard on ourselves.
I was supposed to be having a baby this weekend, once earlier last year, and I think this knowledge is affecting my dreams. Rice has even noticed that I'm not sleeping quite right, and that I've been very active. That's okay, the other night he told someone that he's "Doing pretty well," whilst he was asleep. I was glad to know that. This will be a very busy day. Avi is now at school, and I need to go bathe, and go get some blood drawn for this fasting blood test, and then hit the ground running. I have laundry to do, and packing, and oh so many preparations for the next several days. Tomorrow Avadore is six. I'm not quite sure how this happened, except that he was born and we kept him alive year after year, and it just suddenly crept up on us. We are allowing him to play hooky for his birthday. That's right we're that sort of parents. This won't be a common practice, but bloody hell, you're only six once, and it's a very important birthday. So, we're taking him out of school and taking him south to see a children's museum, a planetarium, maybe an aquarium, the natural history museum perhaps... He gets to play with some friends he doesn't see too often, he'll get cake, he'll get to play with his dad. A lot. Theoretically this trip is for me, too, but I have been having a hard time finding things to be interested in as of late. But Rice had this conversation with me about how no six-year-old needs this sort of trip, so what do I want to do for my birthday? Uh... Well... We could eat some sushi. I don't eat a lot of sushi, which is a shame. Um... there's that bookstore down there I'd like to go to. We have some friends to see. I'm having a hard time getting excited, but I suspect Avadore's enthusiasm will carry us through. And who knows what will happen once we arrive in town, and when I walk through the doors of the bookstore? Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
