2008-02-08 9:45 AM before we get down to it and hit the keyboard running...
The weather here has been awful. Yesterday was a snow day. I had a grant writing meeting last night that we canceled due to the roads. (Slick + drifts = bad.) So I'm driving Avadore to school via a fairly busy road this morning and I hit a big patch of ice. We slid around and ended up 180 degrees from where we began. BUT, as you may recall, I have these mad winter driving skillz, having learned to drive in weather like this exactly sixteen years ago, and so all was well. We got turned around, I made sure the kids were okay, and we headed back down the road. Avi observed that first of all, that was so much fun. Secondly, he noted that I may need to take driving lessons. I was all like, "DUDE -- WE JUST DID 180 DEGREES ON A BUSY ROAD AT MORNING RUSH HOUR. WE DIDN'T HIT ANYONE, WE DIDN'T GET HURT, AND THE CAR IS FINE. DRIVING LESSONS? I DON'T THINK SO!" Actually, what I really said was that the roads are bad and that no matter how careful or good a driver one is (and not that I'm a great driver or anything, I just have these skillz), sometimes stuff like that happens. We just need to try to be very careful and safe. "Ohhhhh," he said. But it's not been a bad morning. Avadore made muffins for breakfast, and LD was pretty excited about that.
