2010-09-14 7:53 PM random notes I've had some technical writing job interviews lately, and one coming up later this week. In the past I kept coming in second, and I'm sure one of these days I'll be first.
School starts in one week. I'm nervous and excited. In one week I'll be back in the classroom, working on my certification. In the past 1 1/2 years, I've written over 400 pieces of technical documentation, some more technical than others, to be sure, but it's all good practice. It's all leading somewhere. I work on fiction writing most every day. I'm not getting as far there. But I am working on it, and I think that's what counts right now. The most immediate thing is a 600 word piece for an NPR contest. According to the contest rules, the opening line is: Some people swore the house was haunted. They've also given the contestants a last line: Nothing was ever the same again after that. The contest seemed like a fun thing to do and focus on for a little bit. The winner gets two books (BOOKS!) and the story read on NPR. Also, I made some really awesome hummus tonight. I think it's the best hummus I've ever made. Maybe a tad bit garlicky, but I love garlicky, so it is perfect. Trader Joes is the bestest. How did I ever live without Trader Joes as a part of my normal life? And I love you all.
