2006-09-07 3:32 PM Facebook has taken over the country. I woke up on Tuesday morning only to find that beloved Facebook had changed yet again. I'm sure Mark Zuckerberg did not intend to arise the sleeping monster that he did when he created the news feed, but this has really gone too far. I don't know what's worse--the fact that every move you make is tracked down by this silly little website or that hundreds of thousands of college and high school students across the country have become so worked up that Facebook's facelift is making its way on the front pages of national newspapers. Facebook is running alongside stories of Iraq, Bush, and birdflu. I believe that Facebook is one of the most influential advancements of our time, and I feel this way because one man has single handedly changed the way in which we interact with our peers. No longer do students at a new school reside in anonymous bliss. You know everyone, you can find out where they live and who their friends are and what classes they have at what time. You can probably write a biography with the amount of information that is revealed on Facebook, and this is only one indication of how little privacy we really have. If Mark Zuckerberg can do it, then think about what the government and other larger, more powerful forces can do. But after all, it is only Facebook.
