2007-01-23 9:40 PM If you could drink gas and put milk in your car... Over the summer when I was working at the grocery store a neighbor of mine came on my line and we started chatting. We got to the topic of skyrocketing gas prices and he said to me, "A gallon of milk costs more than a gallon of gas, but nobody ever complains about the price of milk." Damn. What an observation. Nobody thinks twice about cows. Cows are renewable, their milk seemingly endless, yet gasoline, tapped from a country thousands of miles away and a staple of life as we know it is cheaper than the age old companion to chocolate chip cookies? Not that I like paying two dollars a gallon and maybe it's about time we started investing in other sources of energy but damn, dairy farmers have it made.
