2007-11-03 11:27 PM People should stop eating meat. People need to stop eating meat altogether, not because of the animals that die for it but because of the apparent lack of quality in meat production plants. Yes, spinach was recalled too, but meat is just so much more disgusting. As a former cashier I am all too familiar with the red runny juices associated with a package of chopped meat. Looking at meat nauseates me. Touching it nauseates me. Now I enjoy a nice piece of chicken but only because I don't have to cook it. If I did, I'd never eat it again.
There are many other ways to get the daily required amount of protein, like replacing meat with soy products. Ever since I stopped eating red meat and regular milk I have noticed an improvement with my digestion. Meat is also extremely expensive and dare I say it, it's bad for you. All those commercials telling you to drink milk and eat meat because "it does a body good" were lies fed to you by farmers anxious to sell a product. Just like we all thought toys were fun until we found out we're giving our kids lead poisoning. If you stop eating meat your chances of having to bring a product back to the grocery store because of a recall will be diminished. People are not meant to digest meat. Look at carnivores. They have huge, sharp teeth and poop every half hour. Think of your dog. Your dog poops all the time. The human digestive system takes twelve hours to process a meal and our teeth are meant for chewing and mashing, not ripping flesh. Think about meat sitting in your body for twelve hours and the kind of effect it could have on your body. When you then add in all the hormones given to animals to make them grow faster, it's little wonder why we are trampled by disease. I think meat and hormones have a lot to do with diseases such as cancer. I'm not a doctor, it's just a hunch I have. Women who received replacement hormones during menopause have a much higher risk of developing breast cancer. Therefore I believe the link between meat, hormones and disease is clear.
