Nagging question

I have a question that nags at me at times.

Living here in Florida you get in touch with what would

be abnormal situations. Cubans and Cuban Americans use to

be able to journey back to Cuba at least twice a year to

bring supplies to relatives. The US government has

tightened the embargo and those sojourns are limited now.

This is because of Castro and Cuba's communism.

Communism sucks and is a horrible governmental choice.

Here is my question, "Then why do we do business with

China"? This is a country whose communism has been fraught

with crimes against humanity. They will put you in jail

for having Christian and other religious beliefs. The

Tibetan monks are being killed because they pose a threat

to the Chinese government. Pardon me but aren't Monks a

believers in passivity? "Genocide"

If you have more than 1 child the government can and

will force you to have an abortion.

Especially if said pregnancy is a female child.

"Infanticide"

Argue with or openly disagree with the government and they

will put you and your whole family in prison. Torture and

brainwashing will be applied until you sign a documents

admitting your crime against the government, which was

not agreeing with their policies. Then maybe they will let

you go or maybe they'll call it treason and execute you.

Open demonstrations will be handled harshly and you will

be arrested or possibly run over by a military tank.

China is our running mate, we owe them money. We import

so many goods from them that American made products can't

compete. Not to mention that China's imports get tax breaks

and compensations that American factories do not and will

not get. Why, Why? Our factories are becoming extinct

and we out source everything. Our government isn't

coddling our US companies but, we coddle a government that

promotes communism, and treats people like prisoners.

Yet Cuba who is communist and is run by aging dictators,we

tighten the embargo. The people of Cuba are poor and have

nothing. At one time in Cuba a bar of soap could cost them

a months pay. The medical care is antiquated. You have to

pay to legally leave Cuba.

I met a man in his 70's. This man tells about Cuba.

He decided in the 1960's that he wanted to raise his family

in the US. He went to the government, they said he could

leave after he worked for them cutting sugarcane for free

for 4 years. He agreed,he had no choice. Do the work or

no freedom.

He had a wife and 6 kids.

That man cut cane from sun up til sundown.

Everyday. For months and years. Sweating his ass off in

those fields.

He said to me in broken English and Spanish that after

a long day in the fields he became angry, furious actually.

He thought of Fidel, his family ,his freedom. He became

more angry. That night,in the dark, he snuck into the

cane fields. He lit a match and set those fields on fire.

Then walked away. I asked him if he was scared. He said

yes but, he was a man, a husband, a father. Not an animal

or a slave. He wasn't communist, he believed in God and

not in the Cuban government. His Cuba was gone. The place

of his birth no longer existed. So burning the fields

sped up his tenure of cutting sugar cane and brought his

exit out of Fidel's clutches closer. His debt to the

government was paid in full. They could leave. Plans were

made. When the time to leave finally came, his wife

wouldn't go. She was terrified that leaving would be held

against them. He was broken hearted. She and he decided

that he and their children should go. To allow her

children to have more. A chance. Freedom.

They left and he never saw his wife again.

He settled in NYC and raised 6 kids on his own. He worked

hard. Eventually he and his family settled in Florida.

2 of his kids have died. He hopes that Cuba will be free

again before his time comes. You see he wants to be buried

in Cuba. He knows it probably won't happen.

So the next time you see "Made in China",think of what

that really means. Think of genocide, infanticide, prisons,

and no religious freedom. Think of all the jobs Americans

won't get because the factories can't afford to stay open.

Next time you hear about Cuba think of poverty and my

friend who paid so much to come here.
