OK, folks, well, this is it. Tomorrow is my first day of work at That Community College. I am taking a deep breath . . .

. . . and trying to think of this week's orientation activities as being the equivalent of going to a conference. I have "sessions" tomorrow from 9:00-1:00, and again from 6-8 pm. Due to the lateness of that hour, and the fact that I start again at 9:00 on Tuesday, I'm going to spend tomorrow night at Louise's (and William's) house. (The difference between getting up at 6:30 and getting up at 7:45 is massive to me.)

I'm not nearly as prepared for the new semester as I had hoped to be, but on the other hand, I'm also way more prepared than I've ever been this far ahead of time. I meet my first class - a FY writing class - on Thursday, and the rest of them meet next week. I'm going with the standard Business Writing syllabus this time around, I think, and it's pretty well fleshed out; I'll have to break it down but it will be LOTS easier than breaking down the FY writing one was. In the gaps this week, I'm hoping I can get going on the quizzes for both classes. But I have to say, I don't have many gaps . . .

I'm looking forward to this new adventure! I have a small - very small - case of the "end of summer blues," probably brought on by the fact that it's supposed to be nice and warm the next few days (and as far as I can tell, there's no outdoor lap pool that's functional in Lansing this week; there's really only one, at MSU, and it closes down at the end of August - one of the things I don't miss about living there!). But mostly I'm ready to get back to work. Hoping I don't get too overwhelmed . . .
