Well, it's overcast and 30 degrees out there right now. Looks like, if we're lucky, the temperature will hit 40 today.

That's kinda the way it was all weekend. It was not a very conducive atmosphere for bicycling, I must say . . . far easier to sit inside, alas.

Mostly, I sat inside a car, as it happens: On Saturday Emil and I went to Lansing in search of Em's birthday present (no luck), and on Sunday Emma and I went to visit Louise, who's at her parents' because her father is very ill . . . She was up for a short break! Unhappily, I didn't even look at school stuff all weekend, with the effect that this morning I'm disoriented and feeling completely at sea in terms of remembering what I wanted today's class to do . . .

In my never-ending quest for more excercise (or, I should say, in my never-ending quest to find ways to shoehorn exercise into an already-overfull schedule), I've started a new routine: I'm walking the dog. This might sound weird, since we've had a dog forever - but we've also got a completely fenced back yard and it's just really easy to open the door for him when you don't want to deal with being outside . . . But I think Wally and I both need more fresh air, for one thing, and also, moving your body through space seems a preferable characteristic to staying in one place when it comes to exercise. Thus, walking briskly seems better than riding the exercise bike. Walking outside seems better than doing something inside. Don't ask me why.

Well, I suppose I better go try to figure out what I'm doing here today . . . (Oh - one more thing: Youse guys are a tough crowd. I've been writing my heart out about the England trip and only got one comment, both on-line or off . . . I have one more installment left on that, but I must say, the lack of feedback and/or applause is kinda discouraging . . . )
