Well, I fixed the problem with the dates on my blog . . . Kenny from tech support emailed me and said that Journalscape takes its dates from my computer, so I should check the date on there . . . and as it turns out, yes, indeed, my computer's date was set to five days ago. Periodically I click the clock to get a calendar, and I must have screwed something up when I did that. So all should be well now.

Been a long day full of driving. Emma and I picked up Elliott, Louise's son, from Metro airport; he's flown in to see his grandfather, who's not doing too well (as I think I mentioned before). We took him to his grandparents' house, on the outskirts of Flint, where we sat around for a short while with him, Louise, her brother and mother; when they left for the hospital we left for Lansing. I had to go pick up some papers that I have to grade this weekend; I'd forgotten them yesterday, which is always bad news when you're 70 miles from work . . .

So then it was a quick meal from the Mr. Taco drive-thru and then back on the road for home . . . we got here at just about 4:45, which is when I'd have arrived if I'd worked all day, so the day has therefore functionally felt like a work day. Ah, well, at least it's Friday!

Not that I should complain: It's not like I don't enjoy my job (although regular readers might be tempted to note that all I say about it is that I have to grade papers . . . I don't want to say too much publicly because - well, because it's public, and there are other people's privacy issues to consider). The business writing class is making me feel guilty at the moment - mostly because of the papers I picked up today - but the FY comp is going very well. We're heading into the home stretch before portfolios, and everyone's attentive and intent on doing well, which is nice. Next week we have conferences, which I always enjoy.

It's looking to be a pretty mellow weekend here. My book group meets tonight, then tomorrow not much on the agenda - except it's supposed to snow. At first I thought this was appalling, and then I decided it's god's way of telling me to get those damned papers graded . . .
