So my hair seems to have undergone a rapid change over the past several months - or at least, subtle changes have reached a critical mass and I've noticed, or something. Emil said the same thing happened to him a few years ago, so I guess it's just another one of those little reminders that I'm not getting any younger . . .

The first big change in my hair is the amount of it. I seem to have been losing hair just since January, when I got it thinned; I haven't felt the need to have it thinned since. And it's not nearly as bulky as it used to be (even right after it was thinned). I can tell because barrettes don't fit the same way, and (this is HUGE) I don't mind having it on my neck in hot weather. Also, it's not nearly as frizzy as it once was. Today it's about 80 degrees outside and I've worn it down all day, and it's looked nice. I have never, ever in my life been able to do that.

And I'm getting a lot more gray. Happily, the gray doesn't seem to be concentrated in one place, but it's more or less streaked all through (sort of like gray highlights!). I have to say, I think it's wonderful . . . the gray really accents the waviness, and contrasts nicely with my color of brown, I think. So I'm getting texture from color, not mass.

I'm going to enjoy this hair phase, I can see that right now.

I think it's fascinating to watch people's (my own and others') looks change as they age. It's interesting to me how people bloom at different times, and in different seasons, and always more than once . . .
