Well, actually, off the road . . . I'm in College Park, MD, with Louise, who's here to work in the National Archives. Me, I have ants in my pants; I'll go anywhere.
It's been a nice couple of days. We signed for the car in the morning; I spent the rest of the day making futile efforts to get a trailer hitch for Sven. In the evening Emil and I went for a drive, ostensibly looking for a restaurant . . . We ended up going to Dexter and back to Ann Arbor, where we discovered that the old car show was going on. So we parked, then walked around looking at old cars for a while, then had dinner at Conor O'Neill's - where they now serve Stella Artois!, I was happy to learn . . . It was altogether a pleasant evening walking around in the sunshine and sitting outside enjoying dinner on Main Street, which had been turned into a pedestrian mall for the occasion. Then yesterday morning Louise arrived, and we headed out for DC. Stopped in Youngstown for an hour to see Grandpa and the Uncles. Uncle Joe is still looking a little sad; he's now got arthritis in his hip, and it seems to be causing him a lot of pain. Grandpa looked and sounded just great, though! Then it was off through the Pennsylvania countryside. Gosh, what a pretty state!! I wish I'd been able to take pictures. Maybe on the return trip . . . Today we're off to the Washington Mall to go to the Freer Gallery, the Library of Congress, and who knows where else. Tomorrow Louise is off to the Archives, and I'm going to do a little work for LCC, bike around College Park, and swim in the hotel pool . . . More soon, and pictures, I hope.
