Well, according to the realtor, we had a guest at the open house who spent a long time here and asked a lot of questions . . . always good signs.

Or maybe bad signs, depending on how you look at it.

I find that I am almost perfectly ambivalent about the whole selling-the-house question. I suppose the truth is that I don't want to move; I've never wanted to move; but with almost equal intensity, I don't want to drive 70+ miles to work, and I don't want to change jobs.

So there you go. It's a quintessential rock and a hard place.

Saying it that way, straight out, makes me feel a bit better.

On the bright side, it'll be good if the house sells, but I've also come around to thinking that it could be good if it doesn't. So in a peculiar way, we're in a win-win situation, if that makes any sense. If we're forced to keep the house, we can see that as an opportunity; and if we're forced to sell it, we can see that as a windfall.

Ah, well. Stay tuned!
