2007-01-24 10:00 PM The Groesbeck you've never seen. Read/Post Comments (4) |
Up to two more inches of snow could fall tonight! Hurrah!!
So I've discovered that I like skiing at Groesbeck Golf Course a whole lot more than I thought I would. I remember it as being rather boring; you couldn't go long distances and there are no trails per se. You can go up and down the hills, but so what? Well, it turns out, it's not boring at all. If you could imagine a cross-country hill being set up a little bit like a downhill ski slope and a little bit like a skateboard or snowboard "bowl," Groesbeck is what you'd get. There are plenty of places to go, and you need never go in anybody else's tracks unless you want to. And I've been pleasantly surprised at how pretty it is, too; those golf course designers get paid for something, I guess. Anyhow, since I'm willing to bet that nobody in (my known) audience has been to Groesbeck cross-country skiing at sunset, I'm including a series of pictures I took this afternoon, more or less in the order I took them. I had to come home and go to German class before the light got really good (drat these longer days! :), but tomorrow, I'll be able to stay until the pinks come out . . .
