Well, I've been spending all my free time (and I do mean ALL) working on this knitting project:

Here's a blurry picture that shows the colors more true-to-life:

It's the Kiri Shawl (there's a link to a .pdf on the left, if you're interested), which I made for Stephanie, who (along with her husband, Patrick) is over from England for a while. I started this puppy a week ago Friday . . . and I have to say, it was a total joy to knit. As I was nearing the end I was feeling a bit like I do when I've read a good book too fast; I didn't want it to end. The yarn (Melody Superwash, color 29) is completely gorgeous, and it was a pleasure to watch each stitch come under my needles. In fact, I liked it so much that I went out and bought the 4 remaining balls from my local yarn store - but, alas, the colors in these other balls aren't nearly so vibrant, despite all being from the same dye lot. I have a plan for the muted colors, though . . .

Steph truly seemed to like it, which of course pleased me to no end. It's my first lace project, so I can see the errors, but taken as a whole, I think it works pretty well.

So this puts me about halfway through my Christmas, '07 knitting . . . I do hope I finish before next Christmas! :)

Now it's off to the next item on my list . . .
