Somebody remind me to take care of that detail in the fall, okay?

It's a bit too early to expect them to be popping up even if I had thought to plant them - and actually, now that I think of it, I wanted to think more about where they should go before making that decision - but nonetheless, it was the kind of day that makes you think about flowers. It was 36 outside, but around 50 with the Sun Index . . . the sort of day where you go outside without gloves and a hat, and then discover you shouldn't have forgotten them. The angle of the sun is falling on the front deck in a decidedly springlike way - it makes me want to go barefoot and read novels. We've entered into that characteristic race between me and the end of the semester. Which of us will finish first? :)

Wally and I walked up to the park, where he found two new puppy friends . . . and I found two new neighbors to talk to. I hope we see them again! We both had fun.

It's really no surprise that the weather is breaking, though, because I have almost finished what I'm now calling Emil's Endless Aran. I got the sleeves off the needle last night, and have put on the collar and seamed one shoulder:

(Obviously, that's not him modeling the sweater. And yes, I should have cleaned the bathroom mirror before I took the photo, but oh, well. It will come as a royal shock to all of you, I'm sure, to learn that our bathroom mirror is sometimes less than immaculate.)

Here's a close-up of the collar:

I can't decide whether to wait and block the sweater pieces tomorrow, then sew the seams, or sew the seams tonight and block the whole sweater tomorrow, or forget the blocking entirely . . .

In the meantime, I'm back to the socks still on the needles . . . and waiting for my seeds to arrive. Soon I'll be trading playing with yarn to playing with worms . . .
