I have this theory that I can't wait to test out tonight. I have a theory that you can tell who is going to win an Oscar sometimes by who is presenting the award. My theory won't hold up across the board, and it mainly deals with wild card presenters. I'll elaborate below.

Let's look at last year's show.

Barbara Streissand came out as a vocal supporter of Eminem and his music. Last year she was the presenter for Best Original Song which Eminem won.

For no obvious reason, Sean Connery was the presenter for Best Supporting Actress last year. When looking back on it, the only actress of the nominees that he had worked with was...best supporting actress Catherine Zeta Jones.

Last year the presenter for Best Director was Harrison Ford. Of the nominees, the only director that Harrison Ford had worked with was...winner Roman Polanski.

I don't know who's presenting tonight. Roman Polanski will not be presenting Best Director tonight (for obvious reasons.) Steven Spielberg will be presenting in his place. My guess??? Many people (myself included) see Peter Jackson as an almost heir apparent to Spielberg's throne of making really outstanding pop culture pieces that resonate with critics and audiences alike. So I think it's almost a for sure thing that Peter Jackson will take Best Director.

Time will tell on how true my theory holds up. We'll see.
