2004-07-27 7:08 PM Democratic National Convention: Day 2: Running Commentary Read/Post Comments (0) |
This is a project that I started, but didn't finish. Here's something that coulda been cool, but wasn't finished.
enjoy! 7:00 Mayor Quimby/Ted Kennedy Dynasty vs. Dynasty Kennedy vs. Bush Ted Kennedy is speaking right now. Isn't that Boston accent kick ass? I've always liked politicians with accents whether they be Southern, North Eastern, New York, etc. I like the Tea Party comment. Nice little dig. No one other than Ted Kennedy could get away with saying that without getting crucified. I like the comment about Cheney retiring to an undisclosed location. I'm a Jerry Springer fan through and through and love a good put down line anyday. Although I like Ted Kennedy, everytime I see him I think of something Chris Rock said. He said something to the effect of "Our parents had all these great leaders. All we're stuck with now are substitute teachers." So while my mom and dad got to listen to great leaders like both Kennedy brothers, Martin Luther King, Malcom X, etc, my generation got stuck with the Jesse Jacksons, the Ted Kennedys, the Bushes, Bill Clinton etc. Although all great leaders in their own right, where's the inspiration? It's a good move on Kennedy's part to bring up all the great things that the Democrats have fought for throughout the years. By bringing up the Democrat stances on labor issues, women's issues, environment issues, he's reminding people that the Democrats have fought for over the years. It kind of serves as a reminder to me that the Democrats have been on the right side of so many issues throughout the years and that it seems that the Democratic party is back to it's roots of fighting for these ideals. Holy crap, look at all those Kennedys. They're like the Northeastern Osmonds. Man, there's no mistaking a Kennedy. 7:30 Way to rock out with James Brown's "Living in America." Can't they get at least ONE good dancer and hip person in the audience? Man, I've never seen such bad dancing before. Can't they get at least ONE non-dweeb in the audience? ;-) 7:35 Richard "No Really, I DO have eyebrows" Gephardt ummmm....usual Gephardt stuff. Talk amongst yourselves, I'll give you a topic: I've never been SO sure in my life that a Presidential nominee picked the right running mate. Gephardt may be the most boring politician in America. 8:00 Carol Moseley Braun Why do they keep playing James Brown everytime an African American comes to the stage? 8:10 Howard Dean Looks like Howard Dean shops at the same suit shop as Ralph Nader. Judging by the applause he got, it's still a bit of a shock that he's not the Democratic nominee. If Kerry doesn't win this year, I have to see Dean as a frontrunner for 2008.
