It was only a matter of time, but South Park did a Terry Schiavo episode last night. It's probably not the best time to tackle an issue like that, but they went ahead and did it anyway. The episode was funny, offensive, and ultimately very fair to all involved. It never ceases to amaze me at how quickly they can turn out those episodes, and how one of the only places for great satire is Comedy Central. "The Daily Show," "South Park," and "The Dave Chapelle Show," are all proof that satire doesn't have to be safe like "The Simpsons" and "Saturday Night Live" and that it's okay to offend people every so often. If you like "South Park," you should definitely check out that episode.
This whole Terry Schiavo case just makes me sad. I hope that she, her family, and her husband all find peace with the decisions that were made (or unmade--depending on how you see it). --------------------------------------------------------- In other news...tests and projects are dominating my life. I can't wait until my tests and projects revolve around writing exercises. Writing brings me such a joy, that I can't imagine not doing it for the rest of my life. Whether or not I ever get paid to do it is a different story, but since when do starving artists need to eat. On that note, if any of you have any writing tips or critiques of the stories that I post, PLEASE feel free to post them. I HATE it when I have writing classes and people are all nice about critiquing my stuff, I WANT them to be nitpicky and tear it to shreds. The way I see it, that's how I become a better writer. ----------------------------------------------------------- In other news, I'm going to check out "Sin City" tomorrow. I'm a fan of everyone involved, and the early word is that it's a really great time at the movies. But I'd imagine that if you didn't like "Kill Bill," then you might want to stay away. ---------------------------------------------------------- hasta matt out Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
