Clerks 2
"Clerks 2" may be the worst movie I've seen all year. I liked that it was semi-autobiographical, but the movie was just plain bad. It wasn't clever, though it certainly wished it were. Kevin Smith's days appear to be numbered. Sad to say, since I thought "Chasing Amy" and "Dogma" were really well done movies.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest
I didn't like this movie either. I don't honestly know why this movie is making the kind of money that it's making. One of the most frustrating things about this movie is that you can tell that the people behind the scenes thought that they were making the second coming of "The Empire Strikes Back." It overused CGI. It had some inspired action scenes, but not enough story underneath to give the action scenes weight. Johnny Depp was good, like always, but it was hard to hear him over all the noise this movie produced. Orlando Bloom has finally shown signs of growth as an actor, but he couldn't compensate for how bad Keira Knightley was in this movie. And worst of all, the movie is nothing more than a two and a half hour commercial for "Pirates of the Caribbean 3." Stuff like that pisses me off. Don't waste your money. Just rent the first movie and be satisfied that the first movie works just fine as a stand alone movie.
