Anya and I saw "Snakes on a Plane" on Sunday. Had Anya's birthday parties not been on Thursday and Friday, we would have tried to have seen the midnight showing, complete with live snakes IN THE THEATER, Dave Chappelle inspired "Samuel Jackson Ale, and Quentin Tarantino (and his cast-crew of his currently-being-filmed-in-Austin, "Grindhouse). But it's all good. I'd rather help Anya celebrate her b-day than to have done any of that other stuff.
there really isn't much to say, so... The movie itself was pretty good. It's not nearly as bad as you think. It's not a great movie, though much of the action was pretty inspired. The acting is pretty bad, even by Sam Jackson, though the acting is serviceable enough to advance the story along. Well, advance the story along enough to get to the whole snakes eating people and stuff. Perhaps what was most surprising about this movie is that it's basically a comedy. There were a lot of laughs to be had in this movie. And these laughs came in both the intentional and unintentional variety. Parts of the movie were laugh out loud funny because of its cleverness, while other parts of the movie were laugh out loud because of their sheer lunacy. And there's even that nervous laughter you get when you're a bit on edge of what's around the corner. The movie's a bit like watching "Arachnophobia." It's that type of movie. If this movie has a cousin, that's it. If you liked that movie, you'll prolly like this one too. Though it's a lot more violent and sex filled than that movie was, so be warned. And yes, it was bad ass when Sam Jackson delivered his "enough is enough" lines. It's the type of line that only Mace Windu can deliver, and deliver he did. that's all for now. I'll write more later in the comments section. peace and love Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
