Hearing Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" (made famous by Oliver Stone's "Platoon") followed by the Doors' "The End" (famously used in Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam opus "Apocalypse Now"). If the next song is Johnny Wright's "Hello Vietnam" (made famous in the opening scene of "Full Metal Jacket") I may have to go home and punch a mirror.
In other news, I had a good weekend in Houston with Luke and Mamala. Highlights included Goode Company BBQ, Luke's party, seeing Luke's new rehearsal space, and the great family time. Lowlights included the political discussion that ended awkwardly for all involved, the shitty waiter who couldn't get my order right at 59 Diner, and the out of the way trip to Round Top that ended in failure on the way back to Austin. It was a great weekend...and one that will be repeated in Austin over the weekend of my birthday. Wonder if I'll be a dad by then. :-) - Matthew Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
