I had the opportunity to check out a movie today so I went to the Drafthouse and saw Michel Gondry's "Be Kind Rewind." It's a movie about two men who take over the management of a video store while the owner's away. While watching the store, one of the guys becomes magnetized and accidentally erases all of the videotapes. So to save the store, they end up going and reshooting all of the movies in the store and renting the tapes out.

Look, the movie itself wasn't all that great. The script was really lacking and the acting was a bit all over the map. But this movie has such an incredible heart that I have to recommend it. For those unfamiliar with Michel Gondry, he's an absolute brilliant visual filmmaker. He really has a lo-fi (to use Luke's term) style of film making. It's a really "cardboard" and "glue" operation in th movie.

They "re-filmed" everything from "Rush Hour 2" to "2001" to "Ghostbusters." The "Ghostbusters" sequences were just straight up brilliant.

It's not a great movie, but I found myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions. It also inspired me to think that it'd be fun to either recreate or make some "lo fi" movies with Sweet P and Anya at some point. It could be a fun family project or something.
