There may be a slight hint of hyperbole in this statement, but I don't know how I would have made through these past 8 years without Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert making fun out of outrage. The Daily Show's always been great, but it really came into its own under the Bush years.

It's hard to compare artistic genres to one another, but the Daily Show for the past 8 years was the Beatles. It was 1950's era Superman. It's Steven Spielberg from 1976 to 1984. Stuff like this only comes around once a generation.
