Silk

My new oneword.com piece - I kinda surprised myself with this one. A 60 seconds well spent... maybe.

In a sea of silk we plumbed new depths, reaching for each other in futility. Too far and too fast, along smooth layers and folds, we struggled to hold on. Fingertip brushing fingertip, we fell away, crying out our loss. Out of sight, we fell back in on ourselves, cold and alone, connections unravelling. Thunder in my head and silk brushing my face, I seethe and search, my blood flowing onto white silk.
