Very low on energy today; I've got to take a nap before I go near any spreadsheets or slides. But before I do, let me count some of the ways my life is good:
I have a job where midday naps are possible.
Receiving some Palestrina to practice.
Locating a charity that accepts leftover medications.
This egret - and the haikus it inspired...
... and following through to this post, where this exchange made me laugh out loud:
asakiyume: Oh cripes, do people think I'm posting pictures of a dead body?!
redcoast: I am from the south! For all I know there's always dead bodies defrosting up there!
marymary pointing me to Glenn McKee's "Late Fragment" and an editor's thoughts about him. (Note to UU readers: McKee's career included service as a UU minister.).
Jeannine Hall Gailey's "Love Story (With Fire Demon and Tengu)". (Note to Socrates: includes an allusion to Dorothy.)
I don't currently own a red dress, but I baked brownies Sunday night. I used Mark Bittman's recipe as the starting point and added in some pecans, a mashed banana, several splashes of bourbon, and some shakes of cardamom, cinnamon, and red pepper flakes. The result was a bit dry (should've added more butter) but reasonably tasty.
A lovely note from Rae. I was just looking at the cards you sent, my dear, and savoring anew the textures of the papers and the letters.
There are more violets in my front yard than there were yesterday. And also a bright red tulip in front of the fence.
