[Subject line from Mary Oliver's Have You Ever Tried to Enter the Long Black Branches. I'm ambivalent about the poem itself, but that line caught my eye when I was reading an old issue of O over breakfast.]
Good things: Apple tree in bloom in my mother's yard. * Finding a community service project/charity that accepts sewing notions, fabrics, and craft supplies. (And they, in turn, donate goods and toys to the Kentucky Humane Society. Yay!) * Phenomenally talented friends. Look at what I received for my birthday! (She sent it early, thinking it might get detained at Customs.) He's currently happily ensconced with one of his new housemates: * The well-crafted coffee drink I just finished - it tasted great and it was pretty, with a delicate leaf pattern sketched in chocolate across its surface. I'm sitting across a sign that says, "In the beginning there was darkness. Then God made a good strong pot of coffee and got to work."
