Rest in peace, big guy. The world has lost a good guy too soon. I'll miss your stories about your rock-n-roll-n-raising hell escapades, asking after your radioactive squash patch, the way you loved being needed and how much you helped out your church and neighbors and stray animals and who knows who else, your pleasure in coaching kids on how to fall off rocks, how my one-liners could make you double over laughing, and how you worked to tame your temper so that you could get even better at your work, and how that temper and passion drove you to do good work in so many areas. I'm now so very glad your parents gave you your 50th birthday present of super-duper camera equipment a couple years early - you had so much fun with it (and some sales of your work, too!), and it means there's a little bit more of you that will remain with us. But damn, man, I know you were still revving up rather than winding down, so forgive me for being furious with your body for somehow failing you so suddenly and too soon.
