2002-08-12 9:34 AM Nifty news and another writing shift... Hey, cool news. I was checking out some websites today and found out my Asimov's story, "Natural Order," has gotten a Nebula recommendation! The Nebula is one of the top two awards given out in the SF and fantasy fields, and you have to get 10 recommendations to make the "short-list" and actually get nominated for the award. So it's a thrill to see it. Though I don't think it's really hit me that I'm up for such a big-time award.
If you wanna read my story, please email me and I'd be happy to email you a copy. The same story has also gotten a Stoker rec (an award for the Horror Writers Association). And if you were to give me a "rec" I wouldn't turn it down... ;) Elizabeth and I were talking about my schedule lately, trying to squeeze in my writing time along with all the other stuff going on in our lives, and she (as always) had a fine, common-sense answer. I need to go back to writing in the mornings, before work. I can work out after work, before supper (I was working out from 5:30-6:30 a.m., which was my normal writing time). I think this will work out nicely, and let me feel like I have a life again (it sucked coming home from a day in front of the computer, only to spend more time in front of it at night). This was I can get it done right away, and not obsess about writing fiction all day! That's Lizzie for you. Smart as hell. That's why I love her. Later.
