2003-02-22 2:54 PM Unplugged and Links of Note A quick entry here to get y'all up to date, in case you were wondering, with what's going on in my always-exciting fiction-writing, but not fictional, life.
Right now I'm working on an outline of my story, "Unplugged," which I'm trying to turn into a play with the able assistance of Aaron, a filmmaker (he directed "The Yellow Sign" linked to up there) and a friend of fellow writer Greg van Eekhout. It's been quite fun so far, and right now we have a two-act play made up of ten scenes, total. It could be quite cool. It's always fun, learning about new ways to tell stories. Also, Mr. van Eekhout and I have been throwing around ideas for a new story we plan on writing together in a week or two that is going to be quite monumentally kick-ass. All I can say about it so far is that it'll probably be some sort of mix of urban/heroic fantasy and grunge music from the Pacific Northwest. Let your imagination run with that one... Speaking of imagination and creativity, I want to share a cool link with you that my buddy Scott put together -- Journal-Walker! Or, as Scott calls it, j-walker. Very cool stuff, and a nice way to read a lot of journals, quickly. It's so cool knowing folks who can create something like this out of thin air. And unlike stories, it will actually be useful to people! Other randome notes -- I got a notice that there's gonna be a NaNoEdMo! In which you revise the novel you wrote in a month back in November (or, in my case, the novel you got to 20k on and then abandoned to the back burner, where it still sits, tapping its paper foot in impatience). Oh yeah, one last bit -- we're going to see Pearl Jam! I logged on and got tix this morning at 10 a.m. and we actually have seats. Now I have to educate Elizabeth on these seminal grunge rockers. Rockin -- I've never seen these guys live, and I like them more than did ten years ago when they first hit the scene. "Do the evolution, baby!" And that's about enough of the random shit for today. More later... ;) Now Playing: "Yield," Pearl Jam Stories out to Publishers: 19 Today's Words: 500 Words for '03: 31,300 Today's Quote: Mickey and Jonathan on the front porch, talking about why Jonathan is there. At first it just seems like any other rehab place, and these two guys could be your average recovering heroin or alcohol addict. Then you notice their pocketless white jumpsuits, the flash of metal at the back of their heads, and the way their hands shake and their heads twitch.
