Little Mouses go to Big City

All right, today's just one thing after another, getting caught up on stuff. Just got a couple rejections in the mail, one from an agent and one for a story, but I don't care. I'll deal with that later. The news of the day is -- I'm going to World Fantasy!

Thanks to the extra cash I got the other day from helping at WorldCon, I could afford the membership to the con up in DC this Halloween. It should be cool -- I've never been, and I get to not only launch Intracities there, but also see my story in Flytrap and read the other tales in that new 'zine, and hopefully run into a bunch of writer friends there. So if you're going to WFC, drop me a line and let me know. The theme is dark fantasy, so that should be a lot of fun. Got to read me some more HP Lovecraft to get ready for that...

And as a warm-up for this Fall, tomorrow Elizabeth and I are heading up to DC to check into the hotel and do some sightseeing for HER convention, the National Occupational Therapy Association Convention. She presents at 8 a.m. on Monday (ouch!), so we have all day tomorrow to visit the museums and monuments on the wall (I'm looking forward to seeing the Vietnam Vets Memorial and the Lincoln and Washington Monuments, while Elizabeth really wants to see the Smithsonian). Looking forward to some good food and a fun adventure in the Big City.

Speaking of, I found really cheap train tickets to DC for October -- $60 from Raleigh to DC. Very cool. And it takes just a tiny bit longer on the train than it does to drive. I think I'm gonna do it -- 5 hours on a train to read and write sounds pretty appealling to me. Later!

P.S. Any writers out there thinking of going to the Strange Horizons workshop in New Jersey this September? I'm thinking about going, if finances allow...
