2003-06-21 7:24 PM A good writing day Got some good revising done on the SF novel this morning, after a leisurely breakfast on the back porch with Lizzie, soaking in the lovely, not-raining-for-a-change weather. The first 1/3 of the novel is pretty much locked down now, reflecting some of the major changes I've made (excised an entire character, changed the sex of one of the minor characters, and added a whole shitload of world-building).
I feel good about it. I hope to roll through a couple more chapters tomorrow. It's funny -- the places where I need to add more details about the near-future world just sort of jump out at me now. I guess I've had enough time away from it to be able to see the novel more objectively. Or maybe I'm just getting some of my brain back after the crazy past few months. I think this teaching gig has got me back on track, as exhausting as that is! Only one more week of that, then I'm back to a more-or-less normal schedule. And next weekend? The beach! Yeeeahh babeeee! A week ago a squadron of soldiers from inside the site had broken up a fight between the different groups and cults outside that had resulted in a dozen protestors being sent either to the hospital or jail, or both.
