2003-11-12 3:28 PM Full-time Ficton Writer, that's me. Okay, so I'm doing my best to be as productive as all get out while I'm unemployed here, so I've tried to focus all my energy on getting this frickin' novel done.
And it's actually going really well. I'm mostly done with writing the new stuff, so I'm just fixing up the old version of the later chapters, and I no longer have any "empty chapters" staring me in the face. I just have five more chapters to fix up. It's getting close to being done. I can feel it. Again, the writing is going well because I've got everything outlined, plus the ending's already done. I just have to get all my characters to that point (without killing them off!). It's pretty fun. I was able to get a lot written this morning after I dropped Elizabeth off at her job, and I took the ol' laptop into the car dealership to write while they did the 35,000-mile maintenance. I was able to chug out a good thousand words even with all sorts of distractions going on. Always a good sign -- that hour and a half just flew by. And I just hit page 450, with a project 500 pages total. So only 50 pages to go! Wahoo! On the job front, not a lot of action. And there may not be until the start of the new year, I fear. I have a couple part-time job possibilities out there, and hell, I figure I can always play Santa somewhere in the weeks running up to xmas. They won't even need to provide a pillow!!! Later. Skin thought of Toshera's dire prediction about the contagiousness of the disease -- or diseases -- plaguing the aliens. Surely, he thought, their body chemistry was too different to infect us with any disease, right? Then he thought of the "War of the Worlds" vid he'd dowloaded late one night at Matt's, and he shuddered. Hadn't a simple virus like the common cold killed all the invading aliens? Okay, it was science fiction, but it could easily be true. Couldn't it? Read/Post Comments (6) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
