Another nutty week, one I'll be glad to put behind me (come on weekend!). Drew got sick pretty much the minute Elizabeth got back on Sunday, and we spent a mostly sleepness night Tuesday night with him as he battled yet another ear infection (his 3rd or 4th, already, at ten months of age). Argh. We're talking tubes with the doctor already, and I think it'll probably be for the best.

Of course, I feel like a bad parent, because he got sick on my watch... I thought he and I were doing great for Guys Weekend, so I'm wondering where I went wrong -- was it the long walk we went on when it was sort of misting and rainy? was it all the running around we did on Saturday? did I not give him enough juice??? What did I do wrong?

Ah well. He's feeling a hundred times better now, so that makes ME feel better -- his pitiful crying on Tueday night was rough. You could tell he just felt bad -- he got up about every hour or so, until finally Lizzie and I took him for a drive at about 3:30 a.m. As much as I hate giving him antibiotics at such a young age, they were definitely needed in this instance.

And meanwhile, I'm trying to get myself back on track and on schedule -- I was off work Monday and then Wednesday with Drew, and I've been trying to rustle up some interest in my writing projects. I decided to just focus on my "Dead Man's Rope" novella, and even figured out how to finish that up this month, followed by Sixteen Miles, which I'd finish up by the end of the year -- at about four pages a day, which is doable, I think.

But whenever I sat down to work on some writing, I felt BLAAAH.

I guess it was just leftover burnout, mentally, from the massive novel revising I did 2 weeks ago, along with all the aches and pain (especially in the neck and shoulders) that came from long, long days at the computer (my day job has been nutty, too), so just sitting down at my desk was uncomfortable. So it looks like a short break was in order.

Though I did get some interesting news in the email this morning that I'm looking forward to following up on -- more on this as it takes shape. :)

And finally, I have a bunch of odds and ends that I'm taking care of at last, like calling to get my Esquart towed away now that I got my title in the mail, checking into some cheap Internet service providers instead of using the pricey cable modem (anyone know of one?), trying to find a new Palm to replace my malfunctioning Palm Vx, and a bunch of other boring mundane stuff... Maybe I'll even get around to getting a haircut tonight. And donating blood, something I've been trying to do since August! Sheesh. I don't know what I've been doing with my time lately! Later...
