Flipping

Just sent off my "preferred" version of the Wannoshay novel to the main editor at Five Star -- that's the version they'll be working from when it comes to copy-editing. Very exciting! Even better, I read through different parts of the book, and I liked what I saw. I especially like the last chapter, where I wrap everything up, more or less, without going on for TOO long. No multiple endings and fakeouts like in the movie version of "The Return of the King."

It's still hard to believe how much time I put into that book. How long ago I started. How I threw away the whole last 125 pages of it and wrote it all over again. How I pulled together the various short stories that started it all and tried to piece them into the novel's narrative. It was a lot of fun. And a lot of WORK.

And now, even though I have a list of ToDos for the Wannoshay book (most of 'em I don't need to start until I get more feedback from the publisher), I need to flip back to the current novel. I got some amazing feedback on the opening eight chapters that I want to add as soon as I get all of my own line edits and margin scribbles entered for the LAST eight chapters.

The goal is to get all this done before I take a well-deserved day off work (I've already put in over 40 hours of work already this week, with more to come) either next Wednesday or Friday and with just the laptop and my notebook in hand, go somewhere and WRITE. Or, I should say, REVISE.

Maybe I'll even work on a query letter and a synopsis for Sixteen Miles. Ugh. Or maybe not... Later!
