One of the cool things about the age Drew is right now (2 years and almost three months) is his growing awareness of other people and his impact on them. For those first two years, kids seem to be in their own little bubble-world, playing next to other kids but not WITH them. Now he's starting to see how fun it is to interact with his pint-sized buddies.

And he's realizing how cool it is to make people laugh -- his buddy next door was crying the other morning after hitting his head, and Drew came up to him and started saying "Foot! Foot!" and his buddy stopped crying and started laughing instead (hey, I don't try to understand toddler humor, okay).

He was so proud of himself -- he told me this afterwards -- "I make him laugh! He cried, and I make him laugh. Foot! Foot!"

And today, as we're driving down the road, he was talking about something and made me laugh. Usually he says "I make Daddy laugh," but today he said "I make Daddy happy."
