Looking back for a second before I turn back around

First lines of the past twelve months

It's been an interesting year, with lots of ups and down with writing and the day job, but ending on a huge high with the news from yesterday and of course, the arrival of Mitch (the day-brightener, the smile-generator, the sleep-interrupter!) into our lives.

In lieu of an actual entry, I thought I'd do that first-sentence-for-the-first-of-each-month meme to relive the wackiness of 2007:

January:
This Christmas/New Year's break has felt more like a vacation than any other year in memory.

February:
After a very busy day yesterday (visiting friends and family while Dad was stuck at home working) for the young Mister Drew, he's upstairs napping away, and with two cups of coffee in my system, I'm working like crazy to finish up my novel.

March:
One of the cool things about the age Drew is right now (2 years and almost three months) is his growing awareness of other people and his impact on them.

April:
Hello.

May:
Ah, time is short these days.

June:
Just got Mr. Drew to bed for his nap, Lizzie's at work, and I have some work of my own to do for the day job (surprise, surprise), so instead of any new or interesting textual content, I give you... video!

July:
So much for a calm holiday work at the day job -- I figured my four-day week this past week would be smooth sailing, that I'd get caught up on my To-Do list and maybe even update some docs like I used to do -- but nooo.

August:
Yep, I still think I'm more of an early bird than a night owl.

September:
What a day -- lots of running around, picking up this and that for a get-together tomorrow with friends, followed by a big old meltdown by Mr. Drew.

October:
I'll let the Farrago's Wainscot Editors share the news with you: 'My partners and I would like to let you know that our fourth and final issue of our first year, "Part 4: Autumn," is now available for your perusal.'

November:
Now that was fast!

December:
I'm not very familiar with Booklist, but I'm inclined to like them after reading their review of The Wannoshay Cycle.

An interesting year, all in all, and a pretty exhausting one. I've more or less stopped doing the detailed reportage of the various ins and outs of my life in the past few months, and focused more on newsy stuff, mostly writing-related. Not sure if that's because I have more writing stuff going on (not really, I don't think) or if I'm suffering journal burn-out. Probably a combo of the two... Later!
