I was sort of waiting to announce my latest bit of news until we've agreed on a title, but I can't wait any longer -- Prime Books is buying a second novel from me! This one will come out in 2009, in a month to be determined. I'm tentatively calling it Maps and Legends.

Edited to add: Maps and Legends is now the official title. Sweet!

Things are still a bit tentative because I haven't actually written the book yet. But I have a good synopsis (thanks to feedback from my lovely wife), and I got up early this morning to start fleshing out my outline. The book is about maps, alternate worlds on the brink of extinction, feuding brothers with way too much power, and an eclectic gang of oddballs here on Earth who get caught in the middle of it. It's going to be a ball to write!

Luckily, I'm all done with my marathon copy-edit of the previous novel, the 16 Miles/Doorways book -- I started just skimming over the opening chapters after Xmas, and kept finding annoying typos and things that needed tweaking. Ended up going over the whole dang book in the past week. That was pretty hectic...

So now I have my work cut out for me. Looking forward to it! Later!
