2005-08-18 12:37 PM sacred places I've made a vow to myself to get back to visit the giant Sequoias of California. We visisted when I was a kid, and then my wife and I visited with a friend, maybe 16 years ago. As an adult, when we pulled around the corner, after a steady ascent around somewhat icy curves, it took my breath away. The serene, pristene majesty of the place, as if we had stepped into another world. It was just one of those sacred experiences -- a sense of awe combined with a sense of rest along with a feeling of somehow belonging to the place.
