Old Yeller

I watched Old Yeller again over the holiday. I think it may be the best family movie out there. At the end when the father has returned home and he is talking with his son about all that has happened, there is a real tenderness to the conversation. The father first says you try to put these things out of mind, but when his son replies, the father says something like, well, that really isn't the most helpful way of talking is it, some things you want to remember even when they are painful. It's just a great scene in my book. The father is wise but not above being moved by the storyline as he learns it as well. Good stuff.

And all of the characters are indelible to boot, including Yeller himself.
