When I was in high school, my favorite part of it was the band and the jazz ensemble. And since I played Trombone, I was very partial to a great brass section. And Maynard could deliver the goods. One of my favorite songs of his was Gospel John, which began with a trumpet solo in the style of a preaching prophet, and then joined by the brass chorus. Great stuff. Thanks MF, I'll miss you.
