Where did my weekend go?

It got sucked into playing Sierra Games' Caesar III on the computer, that's where. Suddenly I had a craving this weekend to play this old favorite again, and when I did, I've been losing sleep and hours trying to get further on it than I did before. Imagine rushing to get to the game after dinner, and the next time you look at the clock, it's bloody 3 a.m. in the morning. I'm quite annoyed with myself, but the game keeps calling me back. There's a Roman quaestor inside me somewhere.

On Friday evening, I was invited to a pre-wedding dinner party held by a girl friend whom I've known from my one lone year here at a local university. She and her now-husband are Punjabi (unless I'm otherwise corrected) and the party was a real eye-popping experience. The story of the couple's courtship was narrated, sung and performed with music, song and dance by the couple's relatives. Most of it was in Indian, with a helping of English words and some translation provided by a kind man. It was a veritable Broadway musical; it was a virtual live Bollywood movie. And the costumes and choreography were all simply stunning. It really made Chinese wedding celebrations look quite boring and pathetic!
