Overwhelmed. I'm glad I didn't make that small a deal of having Nibbles and Sniffs make mod's choice on Elfwood for one day. The painting of the little guys brought 133 new comments to my gallery in 24 hours. That's just the number of comments left. In the 3 days the painting has been up, it's gotten about 6,300 visits. Elfwood is huge, and I forgot that its daily visitorship can be just as impressive, and being a mod's choice on the main page is a big deal. I'm overwhelmed.

Though I'm not sure how many of these same visitors will read this, I am thankful for the comments and kudos and recommendations I got with the Redwall series. It was really nice to see quite a few Brian Jacques' fans, and pet-owners who thought I did a good job painting little costumed rodents!

Redwall was very visually inspiring, and there were many points where I wanted to stop and sketch the scene Brian Jacques was describing. But the plot and the storytelling would draw me inexorably on! I did visit the Redwall site, and Brian did mention that he was painting scenes with words. I totally grok that.

Work on Lament is progressing slowly but very well. I've been accused many a time of being good at making tear-jerking pictures (hrmm...now this would explain the e-mail invitation to join a goth web ring, something I've never thought about) and I don't know if this is healthy, but one of the mourning faces I spent hours on got so real that I found myself being affected. Hmm.

On a more political, religious and controversial note (turn aside now!) I was a bit surprised to get to read this long commentary in the newspapers today that seemed to extend my rant on Submission from a few days ago, and say a lot more besides. I found it interesting reading, but one could argue that of course it is; anything is interesting if it agrees with one's already established opinion. ;)
