Martin Rethinking Wargames
Martin Collins is a friend who currently lives in Thailand. When we occasionally meet, Marc and Martin play chess. He sent me this in an email. * * * * * * * * * * * * * I really liked your Wargames thing and gave it some thought. I believe that if the pawns were allowed to move 2 or 1 space at any time , and could also defend diagonally backwards 1 square (to re-group, as would be expected in a real situation of conflict). Then they would win. Also, and this is the most important, one can use the game as a simulator for genuine utopian and revolutionary stratagems. For example, if a pawn takes a bishop, he replaces an orthodoxy, a congregation, an enforcement of the status quo with....a community based self help system, of workshops , skills and educational development , public parks development etc etc ....if a pawn takes a castle , he takes on the bureaucracy , the old boy network ..replacing with a more organic system of reward, honour and values. I wrote a couple of pages along these lines .The queen : sex , influence , desire etc etc . Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
