A Thoroughly Interesting Poser

Not poseur, but poser: question, interrogative, wondering, inquiry.

From James Nicoll, SF writer extraordinaire: "When you are constructing short term futures (like the 2300 AD model), ones that involve interstellar settlement, how do you model which regions on Earth supply colonists?"

It's a question that lots of people responded to, and one I've considered for various projects I have back burnered. One, in particular, is modeled on Mayflower Bastard, the biography of Richard More. Except that my protag would be more modern day, and be sent to a colony in space.

See? History meets Science Fiction.

I haven't actually started writing it yet, but I have some notes. And James' blog was a good kick in the pants.
