I've been watching a lot of History Channel lately, mostly because of the TIVO, and though I'm not terribly interested in the history of dogfights in modern warfare (which seems to be a perrennial topic there), I have found a couple shows that are kinda interesting, that I keep coming back to over and over.

One of them is "Digging for the Truth," which is like Archeology for 3rd grade reading level, but the host is game to do alomst anything, and some of the topics have investigated things I'd never even heard of, like Ramsees II penchant for erasing other pharoah's names from all the temples and stuff, so he'd be the only one--the Greatest One--remembered. Another is "Ancient Discoveries, which mostly focuses on various wars and sieges and weapons that were used in Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, but occasionally hit you with a bit of information that gives a writer ideas for stories.

And then I saw this article in the magazine of Science, Engineering & Techology news, and though, wow.

Cool writerly ideas!
